A blue self portrait! Simply taken in the mirror and massacred in Photoshop. I'm trying to do a self portrait every month. I left it a bit late this month! My hair is normally quite wavy but for some reason it's been pretty straight for the past few days!

I've had my Canon 50mm macro lens for a long time, but I've never taken a penny macro before! This is 1p, the most valuable of all British currency. I chose to have the top out of focus just to stop it becoming too flat and boring. I also lit it quite a lot from the side to emphasize the image on the coin.

I was planning on doing a self portrait today, but there's laziness for ya!! I decided to go for a blue macro instead today, there's a surprise! Hehe :) Basically used my macro lens on my 300D, lit it with my desk lamp, and took a few shots! I like the result even though it isn't the most interesting thing in the world :P

I looked out the window just now and thought the lighting on this church looked really great, so I had to take a photo! In photoshop I burned around the edges a bit, desaturated slightly, made a levels adjustment, and added grain. I took the shot with my 300D using my Canon 28-105mm f/4-5.6 lens. I would have liked to include more of the church but it disappears behind ugly office buildings, hence the slightly awkward crop.

This is my friend Philippa on the bus coming back from Uni. I took this quick snap with my little Sony DSC-T1 which I had in my pocket (see, I am taking my camera out more!). I then proceeded to dodge and burn it a lot in photoshop. I then flattened the contrast a little, just to give it an extra dreary feeling, since the weather today was cold, grey, and wet, as you can see through the window. It's something a little different from my usual PaD shots, so I hope at least one person likes it!

Here's another macro today. I'm afraid I was a bit lazy today and didn't go with my plan of taking my camera out and about which I said yesterday. I think I'm getting a throat infection, which sucks, and I have loads of uni work to do this week, so don't expect anything ground-breaking over the next few days! :) Also, I may not have time to upload my shots some days but I'll try not to ever go more than 2 days without uploading (altho I always do a shot per day).

Yay a blue macro! It's been a while since one of these made its way onto my blog. Not really much to say other than it was taken with my 300D and Canon 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro lens. I think I need to go outside more and try doing outside shots to keep my PaD nice and varied. There are only so many blue abstracts I can come up with :P

Okay, so not the greatest photo today, but it was Paul from next door's Birthday tonight so we had a bit of a party in their flat. As you can see there was a fair bit of drink going around, which is what the editing to this photo represents. I also made it blue at the end, yay!!

This is a photo of Temple Meads station in Bristol taken when I was coming home. It had really nice kind of sunset colours in the sky and clouds but I couldn't bring them out in the photo, so when all else fails... SEPIA! :) This is a really nice building which I've never really thought to photograph before, since it is so busy and cluttered outside. I'll be back there in the future though, to explore new angles and stuff! :)

I'm back, finally, with another lovely blue abstract, although there is detail here which makes it obvious what the subject is. I really like the shapes and colour of the reflections though.

I took the shot with my usual setup, 300D and 50mm Macro lens. It almost reminds me of an alien eye, or something alien at least. I think with a bit of manipulation it could look really quite organic and could be made into a nice grapic designy type image of an alien or something. I might play around with that idea when I get time.

This shot is a composite of lots of lens flares which I took, all merged together with "screen" blending mode. To finish off the design I used some hi-tech brushes following the shapes of the flares using the same colours but with a low opacity, just to give the image an extra kick. It's not highly photographic, but the base is a photo montage and PaD is all about experimentation for me.

Just a bit of a change from my normal bright colours. A nice high-contrast B&W. Well, I'm not sure "nice" is the best word but I quite like it for its texture and detail (which for some reason I decided to obliterate with grain). It also shows the date that I would have taken the shot if I wasn't so ill at the time :P

I took the shot with my 300D and Canon 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro lens, as usual, and used my desk lamp for lighting.

I took this photo near the end of January. I really liked it but I decided not to use it as a PaD then becuase I entered it at DPChallenge. Since I was ill during these days in February, I couldn't take any photos, so I've decided to post this one. It's a self portrait lit using my small bed-side lamp. I left my tripod at University so I had to hand hold the camera. It took a lot of trial and error to get this shot, but it was worth the fuss in my opinion!

You can probably guess what this one is, not so much an abstract and just quite funky looking :) I like the colours and the strong shapes created by the silhouette. I also liked the little hits of detail given by the lines of light on the object.

I took the photo with my usual set up, 300D and Canon 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro lens. The item was put in an orange plastic container, which I then put on top of my bedside lamp to get the lighting. That's right... I didn't use my computer monitor! Gasp! Hehe :)

February seems like a very green month to me :) Maybe I'll throw away my blueness and go with green for a while! This is just a macro of the circuit on the outside of my hard drive, which is broken (hence why it's not in the computer!)

Lit with my monitor, this shot was taken with my Canon 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro lens again. The greener than usual tint comes from the white balance being set wrong. In processing I just adjusted levels a bit, added a vignette, and all the usual things to get it ready for web use :)
